Our Frequently Asked Questions.

Before you call us, check out our frequently asked questions, we may have already answered it for you!

You have questions, we have answers!

Take a look at our frequently asked questions below for more information about our services.

How clean is the water?

The water is filtered 4 times between each float using the very latest in filtration technology – our pod filters remove bacteria up to 100 times smaller than a human hair! We use UV light as the primary disinfectant, using a small amount of hydrogen peroxide to oxidise any left over bacteria. Also the Epsom Salts are a natural disinfectant and are in abundance in the water – over 1000 lb in each pod.

What if I am claustrophobic?

The most important thing to remember is that you are in control of your environment , you can leave the internal pod light on or off and get out at anytime – alternatively you can leave the float pod door slightly open until you feel settled.

Can I float if I’m pregnant?

Absolutely, especially in the later stages!

We recommend floatation therapy for second and third trimesters of your pregnancy. Floating can help with aches and pains whilst also providing mums with restful sleep.

There is no risk at all to mother or baby from Floatation therapy, but we recommend you contact your Doctor or Health Visitor if you are the concerned about trying floatation.

What do I wear?

You can wear a swimming costume or trunks. Each float room is completely private, with its own shower so the option to float nude is also welcome.

Do I need to bring anything?

Just toiletries & makeup for after your session. If you have contact lenses, we have lens holders to storage, but please bring a saline solution to prevent them from drying out. We provide everything you need i.e. towels, earplugs, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and a hair dryer.

Can I float if I’m menstruating?

Yes, we just ask you follow the same procedure as if you were swimming.

What happens if I fall asleep?

There is approximately 10 inches of water and 1000 pounds of Epsom Salt in each pod, which makes the water incredibly buoyant and ensures that you stay afloat.

Some people fall asleep because of the deep relaxation floating provides – just one hour of floating is equivalent to 4 hours of deep sleep.

How many times do I need to float to feel the results?

Many of our clients experience significant benefits on their first float – the more you float the more the cumulative benefits you will begin to feel.

Is there anything I should do to prepare?

Please try to avoid caffeinated drinks for several hours beforehand, as it can interfere with your ability to relax. Eating a light meal about 60-90 minutes prior to your float should alleviate any hunger pains.

For men avoid shaving 6 hours before a float and for women allow at least 12 hours, since the Epsom Salt solution can irritate and sting freshly shaved skin. We can provide Vaseline, to help alleviate it this.

Can children under 18 float?

We do require anyone under 18 to be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times – there will be a supplemental waiver form to be completed by parents.

Can more than one person float at a time?

Only one person per pod at a time. We do have two float pods in separate rooms, allowing up to 2 people can float simultaneously.

Who should avoid floating?

Anyone suffering from Epilepsy and Ear Infections.

If you colour/bleach or dye your hair:
IIf you use semi or demi permanent colour, or bright shades such as pink, Red, Blue or Purple you CANNOT float until the water runs clear through your hair, or dye does not come off when you towel it dry.

Keratin treatments – salt water does not generally react well with Keratin, and there’s a lot of salt in our pods!! We would recommend not floating until this treatment grows out.

Please let us know about any health conditions, our waiver form is designed to help keep you safe. If you are in any doubt, we recommend you should check with your doctor before booking a floatation session.

What should I expect after my first float?

We advise to let your mind become a ‘clean slate’ when you enter the pod to allow for total relaxation both in body and mind. Feel free to speak to our staff before your first session.
